Budgeting With A Purpose

Good Morning Beautiful Women Supporting Women,

Happy Monday to you all!  I hope you had a fantastic weekend.  I am back in Maryland to move my son onto campus for his 3rd year of college!  I am extremely proud of his accomplishments and will continue to pray for his mental, spiritual and physical stability as he navigates through life.  I would also like to wish all of the parents on here a successful school year for your children.  With God’s guidance, all things will be a success!

Last week, I spoke to you about the F.I.R.E. community.  These are our young, savvy millennials that are retiring at an early age, due to strict budgeting, saving aggressively and increasing their income.  One main focal point is budgeting.  Let’s explore this a little more in detail.

Budgeting with a purpose helps us to strive towards a goal.  Consistent budgeting with a purpose helps us achieve the goal!  Documenting everything will allow you to see your progression.  The F.I.R.E. community has a vision of retiring earlier than the average person.  Their goals are written, constantly reviewed and executed.

How to start budgeting with a purpose:

  •  Write down your goal (what are you saving for – a house, a car, children’s education, a trip?)
  •  Start to document EVERYTHING you spend money on (e.g. groceries, rent, lunch, transportation, gym membership, cable, phone bill, movies, dinner, etc…) You will be surprised at how much we spend on items of no value

Budgeting Apps (some will specify for couples but can also be used for singles)

Side Note: Most of these apps are FREE unless you want to upgrade them

Here are some popular budgeting apps:

  • HoneyDue – FREE
  • MINT – FREE
  • You Need A Budget (YNAB) – FREE Trial for 34 days – Afterwards it is 6.99 per month
  • Every Dollar – FREE unless you want the Plus addition, then it is 8.25 per month
  • Home Budget – $4.99

Since financial woes seem to be a common in today’s society, why not get on track by trying one of these apps.  You have nothing to lose and money to gain!

As always, if you have any questions, please feel free to post here or email me at:

Next Up: I love hearing from you. Please post topic ideas here and I will write about it in the following week’s blog!

Thank you for reading and have a blessed week!
