Recently my five-year-old son, Emmanuel was praying for everyone. He named all the people his little mind could recall and afterward he asked me a beautiful question, “Mommy, Can I pray for myself?” One simple, yet beautiful question led me to write this blog.
Too often we give the best of ourselves to everyone else and leave ourselves empty. Thank God for a spiritual leader with a heart of wisdom, because my Bishop always teaches us to bless ourselves. For some of us self-love comes easy, but for others, it takes much work, prayer, and self-confidence. Wherever you fit in the equation this blog is a friendly reminder to you to love yourself.
Loving yourself means that you give yourself every advantage to thrive in this world. As Bille Holiday famously sung “So the Bible said and it still is news. Mama may have, Papa may have. But God bless the child that’s got his own.” Listen up, if you can’t do for yourself in 2018 you’re in big trouble. You need the living God on your side.
I admonish you to sincerely give your life over to God and let him make something beautiful out of your life. Get an education or take courses to better yourself and to gain a sense of stability.
Last but not least, take care of your health. You only have one life to live so make the best of it.
Don’t stop praying for others but never forget to pray for yourself.
