“But grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. To him be glory both now and forever! Amen” 2 Peter 3:18
Grow in grace means to mature as a Christian. The job of the Holy Spirit is to create in us a new person. One that is saved, sanctified and filled with the Holy Spirit. We can witness growth in every part of nature. A caterpillar goes through some changes to become a beautiful butterfly. Likewise, have you ever witnessed the changes in a converted person? Well, it is far more amazing to see a believer’s change than the caterpillar. To watch an angry person develop into a loving peacemaker is an astonishing sight to behold.
Dear Reader, God wants to take you to places you have never thought possible. Growth is a beautiful process and one that leads to happiness.
The day you accept Christ as your personal Lord and savior your changes begin. You must now learn to grow in grace and the knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Fortunately, God will help to mature you. He will water you and prune you so that you will one day become a mature Christian.
A mature Christian begins to live a life that is dedicated to God. A life that is pleasing and acceptable to God. A life that can endure test and trials without turning back or losing faith. You will also know when you are maturing by the way people around you interact with you. They often will begin to watch how they speak to you or where they invite you to hang out. Take it as a compliment!
I was once told that the greatest compliment a Christian person can receive is that someone else sees growth in them. Continue the journey that God called you on and stay focused. The blessing is in the pressing.
Be converted both in your spirit and your heart. May God’s richest blessings be your portion in 2018!
